Interacting with partner

Barbara Santi came in a couple of weeks ago to help us with our project and see how its going. She also gave us tips on where to find footage, what shots we could use to improve the look and feel of the film to enhance the story and some other things.

She is also coming in tomorrow to see the final project and any improvements we could make.

We haven't talked to her lots of times but I think we've communicated with her enough times in order to achieve what we both would like.

Unfortunately we have found out that she cannot make her appointment she had today so she is coming in on Monday instead. I'm hoping by this point we can show her the completely finished product and gain some very valuable feedback. Then hopefully she will like our product enough to show it at the Cornwall film festival and maybe other venues round Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. She might also like to use it for futher promoting meetings or shows.

today we are ...

We are going to film the last few shots of footage which is the shots of town, public and ambulance parking area. I don't think this will take long. We will then be able to come back and log and capture this and put this on the timeline. All we have to do then is add some minor effects and tweek it here and there. I think we should be able to finish it by the end of this week. We are still having problems with the archive footage though as it does not play properly when we rip it to the mac's and then put it into final cut pro.

At the moment we are ... (continued)

We have now filmed our footage / most of it. We just need to film some streets and other shots of Biyan's dad with the ambulance service.

In final cut we have started to layout the footage according to the story boards. We still have to add the rest of footage to do, music to add (we have done a section of music in it though) and some minor effects / transitions to add in.

I think we are about half way through making our product and also I still have to evaluate this project.

At the moment we are ...

At the moment we have started the storyboards and finished the planning work, now we are going to film, edit and evaluate. There is still quite a lot to do but I think we will be able to finish it.

We have found a documentary on TV which is now on BBC player which is in the similar style that we are looking at but a slightly different story:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00sv2ry/A_Century_of_Fatherhood_The_Good_Father/
It is a story based on fatherhood using archive footage and images.

rough structual ideas for filming

Start with old footage. Start telling stories of him of when he was younger then go into interview with maybe a few pictures of his old home. All of what we are going to do has been wrote up into a storyboard format. We are also going to do a voice over of Biyan's voice to narrate peices of her dad's stories.

Interview

We are starting to plan out who we are going to interview and what the interview will include. Here are some rough questions that we might use in our interview:
  • What is your perception of the word 'home'?
  • Who are in your memories when you were younger?
  • Where are your favourite memories held?
  • What memories come to mind when you say the word home?
  • How has the area been reflective on the careers you've had?
  • Do these memories of your past career appear when you say home or do you try not to picture them?
  • Why did you choose Cornwall as your home or why did you stay in Cornwall?
  • Can you tell us a shortened version about the Bosnian girl you gave a home?
